Dry & wet rotting fungi

There are two main types of wood-rotting fungi found in buildings - wet rot and dry rot.

Many species of wet rot can be found in building timbers, all of which are treated in the same way. The successful treatment of dry rot can require more elaborate and expensive measures, and so it is essential to establish whether wet or dry rot is present.
