Wet rot - Pleurotus ostreatus
Commonly known as oyster fungus

Habitat:

Usually found on broad-leaved trees. Occasionally it is found in buildings, usually associated with the decay of panel products.

Damage characteristics:

The affected board lightens in colour. In particleboards, the chips tend to separate.

Fungal characteristics:

Mycelium Whitish, woolly mat.

Strands None

Fruit-body Grey or fawn mushroom with whitish, plate-like gills beneath, with or without stalk. Stalk, if present, is not central.
